Carmen K - Writer / Director
Carmen is a freelance artist with varying artistic skills. She has worked as audience coordinator, camera operator, set dresser, script supervisor, and digital editor.  "Tea Time" is Carmen K's first dramatic short as a director. Her goal is to pursue the art of storytelling through direction of the moving image. Carmen also co-produced and was UPM for "One Color System" which aired on BET-J.

Love Conquers Al

"Tea Time" - 27min.

A story about Lucy and Callie’s friendship on a beautiful Saturday afternoon that culminates with a promise kept.  Through the course of this afternoon, we get a glimpse at Callie and Lucy’s friendship and devotion in uplifting and difficult moments culminating with a pact coming to fruition.



David Wendell Boykins - Writer/Director
A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, David began his acting career in Washington, DC, at the Source Theatre.  David made the move to Los Angeles in 1999.  Acting proved to be only the beginning of David’s creative pursuits. He was honored to be a semi-finalist for his screenplay in The Urban Insider’s Short Screenplay Competition in 2003 for Prime of Life. He graduated from the Los Angeles Film School, where he studied directing, cinematography, and producing. His thesis project, Prime of Life has gone out to film festivals around the world. Currently he is in the Off Broadway production of WEBEIME, a play being produced by the famous Negro Ensemble Company, the company responsible for the Tony Award-winning play, A Soldier’s Play.  David is committed to his craft and intends to keep reaching for the stars.

Prime of Life is the story of Jacob and Grace Warner, an elderly couple counting down the minutes until the Lord comes to take them away. Until one day, Jacob decides to live his last moments his way.



Michelle S. Baxter
Michelle began her professional career in the fashion world as a Production Manager and Consultant for Gap.  She left Gap to obtain her MFA in Film Producing from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program.  She holds a B.A. in History and Theater Arts from Princeton University, an Associate's Degree from the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and a MFA in Film Producing from USC.

Nkechi Okoro
Nkechi Okoro is a vibrant, Meisner trained actress, writer, and producer. Originally hailing from Nigeria, Nkechi was born in New York and grew up all over the world.  She began writing in 2001 after becoming very frustrated with the lack of quality roles for women of color.

 

Distractions "Apt. A" - 10 Mins.

Chronicles the lives of three sisters immediately following the 9/11 attacks as they await word about their missing father. The father and one sister both left home for the towers that morning but only one has made it back so far. With their dad potentially gone, the girls must now deal with what is left of their lives, including a manic depressive mother, an overbearing older sister and unsaid truths.



Kevin Coleman - Writer/Director
Kevin aspires to make entertaining films that bring the under-heard and underexposed to a heightened consciousness.  Kevin was born in St. Louis, MO. After high school he attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.  Kevin then transferred to Howard University, Washington, DC and earned a BA in Film and Communications. While at Howard University, Kevin wrote and directed two films.  He then became a student of veteran actor and director Bill Duke, an American Film Institute alumnus.  Kevin graduated with a masters degree from the prestigious Directing program at the American Film Institute and currently is a visiting assistant professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City,.

 

Don of Virgil High "Snapshot" - 21 Mins.

Esperanza is an aspiring photographer from Pasadena who hangs out in Boyle Heights, a section of East Los Angeles with her best friend Rosa. She discovers the beauty of that community and the depravity when she journeys into the gang world. She unknowingly causes a disturbance within the gang community and is sucked into a violent evening. And in one telling moment she becomes a real artist of photography.




Corey Grant - Director

Born and raised in Joliet, a suburb of Chicago, Corey attended Norfolk State University, receiving a BA in Communications.  He then enrolled in the Howard University graduate film program and began to develop and perfect his craft. While at Howard, he produced and directed several award-winning short films with high production values and a quality that changed the direction of the school's film department.

Nikki Love - Writer
Actress, writer, producer, and director Nikki Love hails from Chicago. Her passion for the arts shows through her ability to jump behind the camera as well as in front with ease. She has a BA in theatre arts and has trained under the likes of Carol Mitchell Leon, Gary Yates, Patricia Ridge, and Amy Lyndon.

 

Scrapbook "Scrapbook" - 37 Min.

A dramatic short film about a mother and wife battling cancer, and how her family copes with letting her go. As Lisa does battle with the cancer that is wracking her body, she is determined to leave behind a piece of herself for her husband and daughter. With an all-star cast this poignant film tells the tale of letting go of loved ones.




Jonte - Writer/Director

Born to an African American father and British mother,  award-winning writer/director Jonte has been an active member of the Black filmmaking community on both sides of the Atlantic, having worked for every major TV network in Britain, including The BBC and Channel Four, he made the move to Los Angeles in 2005 where he has written, directed and produced  TV pilot Tretch and Short Film Roadblock as well as being a regular Director, DP and Editor for the likes of  the Simmons-Lathan Media Group and  Farcor Studios. Jonte is currently in Pre-Production on his Independent feature film South of the Border

Morocco Omari - Writer / Director

A Chicago native, Morocco Omari’s acting film credits include: Half Past Dead 2, Kubuku Rides, Andre Royo’s Big Scene, Momentum, Hope, Damaged Goods, A Song For Jade and Shakedown. T.V. credits include: The Beast, Prison Break, Injustice, N.C.I.S., Judging Amy, 24, Crossing Jordan, Frasier, Angel, The District as well as recurring roles on the CBS series Joan of Arcadia and the ABC series Dragnet. Mr. Omari’s theater credits include performances at Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Victory Gardens, Chicago Theatre Company, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Geffen Playhouse.  In addition, Mr. Omari is the Executive Producer, Writer and Lead Actor in the multi-award winning film, The Male Groupie. “(Mis)Leading Man”is Mr. Omari’s directorial debut.
