"Woman's Work"

The rhythmic clink and clatter of household chores and the smack and rattle of the ironing board causes Janet Sancy to catch her iron before it hits the floor.  She realizes she’s holding the hot end.  Dropping it, she sees it did not burn her hand but is now destroying the sweater she was ironing! Later, Janet is informed by The Hall of Super Justice that due to her “heightened adrenaline” she could possibly be a superhero.  Can Lady Adrenaline achieve real superhero status?  Woman’s Work shows her juggling both jobs and fighting for respect from both.

This is the pilot for an animated series, Power Force 5, which updates this West African folklore in a contemporary way.

Kobina Yankah - Director
Franklin Lett - Writer

The “Animated Jukebox” series was an offshoot of “Hazel’s Hips,” the animation I created from Oscar Brown, Jr.’s popular song from the 60’s.  AaHah!  Why not show the works of all the singers, and poets I like in 2-D animation, such as Bill Withers, Carl Perkins, Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Bob Dylan, and more of Oscar Brown, Jr.

hazel hips Hazel's Hips - 4min

Animated to the music of soul troubadour Oscar Brown Jr., “Hazel’s Hips” is a cartoon journey back to a time when R&B was called Soul, and a waitress with the right curves could make you forget your gentlemanly manners.

The series “The Animated Jukebox” is looking forward to animated renditions of the works of artists like Bill Withers, Carl Perkins, Maya Angelou, Bob Dylan, Langston Hughes, as well as more of Oscar Brown, Jr.
